Testing The Waters Response

I agree with statement eleven, which states that there are universal moral standards that apply to all human beings regardless of where they live. I believe that this statement is synonymous with saying that human nature is a real thing. Moral standards are something that people can be born with. Regardless of where one is from, they believe in working towards happiness and protecting those close to them. For example, there is no community in the world where its members do not wish to have all of its members be happy with themselves just as there is no place where people do not care about the safety of their loved ones. This is because humans are simply wired that way. Human nature is a biological truth, and as a result there are universal moral standards that apply to all human beings regardless of where they live.

  1. I agree with your statements. When you stated, "For example, there is no community in the world where its members do not wish to have all of its members be happy with themselves just as there is no place where people do not care about the safety of their loved ones", it was very true. People often sacrifice themselves for their loved ones because of their moral standards. As you said, it is how humans are wired.

  2. I agree with your statement as well and the points you made. Moral standards do stem from human nature, which is undeniably the core make up of any person, no matter what continent they live on. Everyone has the "base" to follow the universal moral standards, they just have to choose to live by them. And this is where being in different parts of the universe, the world, a country, or even in different areas of the same state plays a part. If the environment around you did not influence you or raise you to follow the moral standards, then you may go on living in a different way. This is why there is such terrible crimes everywhere, because some people just did not develop in an environment conducive to following the universal moral standards that apply to them and are within their power to live by. You said, the standards apply "regardless of where they live." And while I agree to that, I have to challenge that where they live is completely irrelevant. While it does not change the fact that moral standards apply to them, it may change if they act in such moral ways to fit the universal standards.
